Breaking the Rules
Have you ever done something that completely turned your life upside down and fundamentally changed it? Something that is unimaginable for other people and perhaps also violates laws, principles or norms?
In our everyday life we follow rules, some are legally anchored, others are natural and many apply quite naturally in society, although they are not written down anywhere. Rules give structure to us as human beings and to our life together, but they can also restrict us in areas of life. What happens when you deliberately or even purposefully break these rules? When you do something extreme to free yourself from an environment full of rigid rules and create something new? When breaking the rules leads to achieving something special in life that you could never have imagined?
TEDxKIT 2022 gives people a platform and stage to talk about why they broke rules, what ideas they used it to advance, how it changed their lives and the lives of others.

Speaker
Ferry Weikert
Weltreise auf zwei Rädern: Höre nicht auf Regeln, gehe deinen eigenen Weg!
In May 2018, Ferry Weikert, a sports management student from Baden-Württemberg, packed his bags on his bike and set off - always towards the sunrise. His route took him 27,000 kilometers through breathtaking landscapes.
Iain Miller
The Realms of Chaos
Life is full of risks; accidents are inevitable as soon as we engage in any activity.
Every day, extreme sports athlete Iain Miller is on a mission to avoid danger. Questions like “Where are we headed?” or “Where is the closest help?” are crucial when considering the courses of action.
Bernd Eckstein
Manuel Speck
Learn the Rules,
Understand the Rules,
Screw the Rules
Most things in life follow fixed rules, such as stopping at a red light.. But why? And what about the countless rules in everyday life that no one has written down and yet most people still follow? This talk deals with the rules of communication.
Anja Sturm
Auf der Seite des „Bösen“? – Straf- verteidigung als Menschenrecht
Among defense lawyers it is called the "party question". There it is often said: "Do you have no problem defending a rapist?" It is obvious that a crime is a violation of the rules. But how do we know that a crime has been committed?
